The school celebrated 77th Independence Day with full zeal and passion. Lt Col Shailendra Verma, Instructor, NCC, Officer Training Academy, Kamptee was the Chief Guest. The programme began with the Chief Guest being presented a Guard of Honour by a contingent of 33 cadets and a horse mounted squad accompanied by the pipe and drum band. SCA Parth Dadwal of class 10th B commanded the Guard of Honour. This was followed by the hoisting of the national flag. At the formal function, SVC Agreem Koparekar of class 11th stated that we got freedom in 1947 after a huge loss and scarifies of our great freedom fighters.
He further exhorted that the movements like Civil Disobedience, Satyagraha and Non Co-operation were the powerful weapons used by the Indian freedom fighters. No nation attains greatness and success till there is an awakening amongst the population. India is known as a military and economic power in the world hence the greater responsibility comes with greater power. We all have to strive hard to make our nation free from poverty, unemployment and illiteracy He ended his speech saying when you challenge people you will lose one day, when you challenge yourself you will win every day.
After this event, the Investiture Parade was held to present badges of ranks to the cadet appointments followed by felicitation of academic achievers of previous academic year.
Lt Col Shailendra Verma, Instructor, NCC Officers Training Academy, Kamptee, Mr Rahul Dixit, Secretary, CHMES Nagpur Division, Mr Sanjay Joshi, Treasurer, CHMES Nagpur Division and Col Amarendra Hardas (Retd), Commandant of the School presented the badges of ranks and baton to the school appointments and company appointments. Later the 'Academic Achievers and 'Public Speaking Competition' winners were presented book prize by the Chief Guest.
The Commandant, before inviting the Chief Guest for his address read the biodata of the Chief Guest and said that such an illustrious profile who received two "Army Commanders Commendation Card' which is rare feat for any Officer. He put his heart and soul in empowering himself and there after worked for the organization with total dedication selflessly.
Lt Col Shailendra Verma, Instructor, NCC, Officers Training Academy, Kamptee while addressing the Cadets stated that we must not forget the supreme sacrifice, struggle and resilience on the part of freedom fighters, who protect our sovereignty. Despite being a multicultural and multilingual nation, our strength lies in the unity amidst diversity. He further exhorted that national integration is about respecting and celebrating our diversity while upholding our
common identity as Indians. Also, it is a process of creating sense of belonging and solidarity among all the citizens. National Integration is a foundation of strong and prosperous nation.
We must be vigilant against communalism, casteism propaganda and missing information that is spread through social media. "We have to be ambassadors of peace and harmony", he said.
He advised cadets to be the role models to be followed and be the agents of change and progress of the nation. Lastly, he said that we must follow the ideals and value of our freedom fighters who fought for the national integration.
The emcee of the programme was CVC Rudra Chatterjee of class 11th.
